Album Review: Belleruche – The Express (2008)

Belleruche – The Express (2008)

'Anything You Want (Not That)' has a nice retro feel reminiscent of Dionne Warwick’s 'Walk On By'.

Kathrin DeBoer spreads her smokey vocals all over this album. Some harmonies would be a nice touch but the atmospheric guitar and subtle turntable trickery (except for the last track!) work and gives the band that individual sound.

This album will do no harm at all to their growing reputation notching up live performances at Glastonbury, Montreux and the Sydney Opera House!

Fave track is 'Rumble Strip' rollicking bass line, 60’s guitar but mercilessly too short at 2.36 leaving ht elistener wanting more!

'Express' should do well.

Seductive vocals and late night lushness , this album is a slowburning effort understated but astute, think Portishead with a ton of sex appeal!!
